I must start by admitting I have been putting off writing this log for the week. It is now Wednesday and it should have been completed on Monday. I had the best of intentions to start the new month in a big way, and it all fell flat.

Monday was looking good, but something set me off track a little. A persistent customer on Facebook Marketplace wanted to meet to buy speakers I was selling. Which end up followed by coffee with a few friends and then the day was over.

There is nothing to do with writing in the above paragraph. Which is the first problem. Followed by the second problem, being the lack of writing Monday has led to me putting off writing until now, late on Wednesday.

Goals Progress

My writing log this week covers the week beginning 25 May 2020 and concluding on 31 May 2020. In this time I completed 3474 words and published three articles.

I have written 41,183 words towards my 1 million word goal and published 55 articles.

The above result means that I need to aim a little higher each week now for 31,363 words per week or 4,480 per day. While for my publishing goal, my target is still similar at just over 16.35 articles per week or 2.33 per day.

Thoughts for the Week

Every day I start out with a wish to sit and write and create a flood of work. But every day I seem to find it just a little more difficult to sit down and do that.

I don’t seem to have a lack of ideas. While not in enormous volumes I add another draft here and there. Each one a fresh idea I want to write a story about.

What I lack is the mind power to complete the thought process on the idea. The bringing a multitude of ideas together into a coherent through-line to make a workable story.

I have taken to new hobbies in place of writing, it would seem as procrastination. Although one new hobby is that of fishing, which gives plenty of time to think if nothing else. But in some ways I am still at a loss to what is holding me back from writing.

Even though the above is my reality, the past week has been a step in the right direction. I have written more words than the previous two weeks combined. But have still only published three items this week.

Published This Week

The two stories I published, beyond my weekly Writers Log, had a slight amount of success.

The first was about my experience using Facebook Marketplace. It is a story I will probably share with a followup in the coming months. Because I am still increasing my use of the site and seeing some variance in my experience. This story had 28 views and 18 reads with about 22 minutes read time.

The second story I published talked about Online Communities. I wanted to share time information and tips about being a better community member online. Being an admin for one group and a member of many others, there is many people taking a “me first” approach. This approach does not help them build a long-term credibility in the group and tends to not help anyone. This story had 38 views and 17 reads with about 17 minutes read time.

As long as I keep sharing my Writers Log, I have hope that I can make some progress towards my goal. To a large degree I think it just comes down to me finding my motivation. Not something anyone but myself can discover, but something I will keep searching for.
